Site: Craft Gawker

Craftgawker is a site where people can submit photos with a link attached.  It's generally used for etsy sellers to advertise their wares, or photobloggers, or designing people.  It's very aesthetically pleasing to look at, and they're very picky about what they choose to put up, so pictures stay on the front page for about a day.  It's a great way to show off what you have, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the only people who go to the site, are those who are submitting things, so they aren't really looking to buy.  Although I could be wrong.

Now I've submitted 5 things to craftgawker so far (that picture on the right is of my latest submission) and so for 4 of them have been denied, and I'm really just waiting on the 5th denial in a few days.  It's usually for reasons like my photo is blurry or washed out or something.  I use a super nice SLR camera to take my pics so I really don't think they're blurry, but craftgawker just doesn't like them.  So finger's crossed this latest one gets in! (Although I'm not really holding my breath.)  But the site is a lot of fun to go and peruse around and see lots of pretty stuff.  They also have two sister sites weddinggawker and foodgawker, which I'm sure are lots of fun as well.  Have a great evening, and I'll be back tomorrow with some inspirational photos!

Tree Lover Wedding Invite

How super cute is that wedding invitation, eh?

It was designed by Burning House of San Francisco for a wedding in the redwoods! (Sidenote: I miss the redwoods.)  I love the ingenuity!  They didn't want all the information to be overwhelming, so you only see little bits at a time.  Pure Genius!  For more info on it here's their website, where you can also see it super close up.  Although note the line at the bottom about how this was a one time personal thing, but they are open to discussing similar ideas.

And just for the record I saw this through weddinggawker, which is a pretty sweet sister site of the awesome craftgawker.

New Banner!

Isn't it lovely?  I put my photoshop skills to work on that one.  Lots of layers, and blending of layers and merging of layers.... I'm quite proud.  All the new jewelry I've added to the shop has had a solid color background, so I though it was time to add some color to the banner as well.  It's not quite as bright as I was hoping for but I liked the way it turned out.

I finished "Reading Lolita in Tehran" last week, so now I've moved onto "Franny and Zooey" by the late, great J.D. Salinger.  It's actually my first Salinger.  (I know! *GASP* You're probably thinking "how did she make it through life sans Salinger??" Can't tel you how, but I did.  Don't worry though, I'm making up for it now.)  Next will either be "Catcher in the Rye" or "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", not quite sure.  But I'm loving the ride.

Now to actually do some Photoshop homework...

March-ing along.

Happy March. :) Pardon the pun in the title.  I almost wrote March Hair and did a post on how I wish I had long hair again and could do all those lovely long braids like in the fashion shows.  Sigh... if only I hadn't chopped it all off.

BUT... I saw this picture on the right here on Apartment Therapy awhile ago, and vowed to do it when I need to decorate a wall.  (And when my boyfriend isn't living with me, because I already checked--he doesn't approve.)

But doesn't it look cool?? Maybe in real life it would look hokey, I'm not sure yet... It's just fake flowers taped to a wall, but I love the color, the variety, and the three dimensionality of it.

If I ever do it I'll post pictures.

In recent news I really want to do a drive up the coast, and visit Washington and Oregon.  I want to go to Seattle, and Portland, and Eugene, and all those cool Northwest areas.  I think it would be fun.  The picture on the right totally inspires me.  The dampness, the mist, the water.  It just seems so quiet.  I want to go there.

I searched "Sydney" on weheartit and found this really cool picture though.  Isn't that neat!  I'll have to find that zoo-like place when I get there.

Mary Mary Quite Contrary....

I mentioned a few days ago that I was hoping to plant my tulips on Monday. Well I was able to plant them and they seem to be flourishing! (Despite the slightly gloomy and drizzly days we had.) I took some pictures of them today, so I hope you enjoy!










Aren't they lovely? It's ironic, I very much enjoy rigid-type flowers, like tulips and daffodils and such. But I still think my favorite flower is a peonies. I should really do more research on flowers, they're so interesting.


In other news I've been watching Emma on Masterpiece Theatre, it's absolutely lovely. You can watch it all online here, until March 9. I can't wait for the BBC or Masterpiece Theatre to remake all the Harry Potter films, and have them actually coincide with the books.

Inspirational Photo Friday : Butterflies & Flowers & Beauty, oh my!

Today's inspirational photos all come from the lovely pages of "L'archives d'une couple amoreux" (sidebar: didn't know what tumblr was til now! I'd heard of it but I think I always associated it with flickr. oops!) It's a bit like weheartit because I've seen pics on the site that I recognize from The Cherry Blossom Girl and other sites. But they have a lovely collection. I actually found the site because I saw this illustration to the right on weheartit, and wanted to know where it was from.

So here are the beautiful photos I handpicked off their site.

All the butterfly ones remind me of "Bright Star", which I just watched the other day. So lovely! Oh to live in the English countryside and catch beautiful butterflies all day long.

These are poesy's right? They're absolutely beautiful.

I heard this song on the radio today and as soon as I got home looked it up because it was so much fun to listen to.

It's called "Say Hey (I love you)" and its by Michael Franti & Spearhead. I'm not sure if it's a remake because it was very familiar to me. Either way, it has great rhythm and seems like a perfect summer song to dance to. I love the Jamaican sounds, as well as the beats which remind me a bit of Black Eyed Peas.

Inspirational Photo Saturday : Mermaid's Cove

Todays photos are inspired by a conversation my boyfriend and I had about what sort of crayon would we make and what would we call it. I decided on a blue hue found in some of these photos and wanted to call it mermaid's lagoon, or mermaid's cove, and something... Also inspired by photos I've seen recently of the Great Barrier Reef, and beaches in my future home, SYDNEY, Australia! Enjoy. :)
